Networking with Del.icio.us

I wrote about the fabulous social bookmarking Website del.icio.us almost a year ago in a post titled Try Delicious, It's Yummy. I also made a screencast that shows you how to set up your del.icio.us account and some of the great features of del.icio.us. Recently, I discovered the networking feature of del.icio.us. I've seen it there for a while, and I have people in my network, but I only just learned what you can do with it.

Join me on Tumbl'n Teachers

This week I discovered a Website called Tumblr which is like a mini-blog where you can share things of interest you find on the Web. This can take the form of text, a quote, a link, audio and/or video. I created my own page on Tumblr here: http://lizbdavis.tumblr.com/ It isn't interactive, but you can subscribe to the feed and follow others who have Tumblr pages.

Tumblr also has a group feature, which allows you to create a group page that can be posted to by all members. @techieteacher put together a group called tumbl'n teachers and you can find it here: http://teachers.tumblr.com/

Try del.icio.us it's Yummy!

If you aren't already familiar with the social bookmarking Web 2.0 tool del.icio.us, I highly recommend you check it out. With a del.icio.us account you can bookmark Websites and access your bookmarks from any computer. This is great for me because I work on a lot of different computers and my del.icio.us account allows me to find my Websites wherever I am. I can also share my sites with students and teachers, while still keeping some sites private. Finally, I can also look at and follow other people's del.icio.us Websites which often leads me to great Websites that I would never have found on my own. The Library and Technology department in Brookline is also working on a system-wide del.icio.us Website.
